Moon at Shinagawa

「品川の月」
Shinagawa (品川区 ) lies on the Tokyo Bay and is part of the Tokyo metropolis. It faces the ocean, that's why in this painting we can see the beautiful sea view through the spacious open window.
Moon at Shinagawa is one of the three large-scale hanging-scroll paintings created by ukiyo-e master Kitagawa Utamaro (喜多川 歌麿). The three large-scale paintings are "Moon at Shinagawa" (品川の月), "Flowers in Yoshiwara" (吉原の花), and "Snow in Fukagawa" (深川の雪). They were respectively themed on moon, flowers and snow.
